Clare is a Clinical Psychologist currently living and working in the bustling city of Galway. Clare’s practice is largely informed by two major beliefs; the first is that mental health is not just about problems, it is about learning to take care of ourselves in the best way possible whether we are experiencing a mental health problem or not. In the same way that we care for our physical health through diet and exercise, Clare believes that we need to learn how to care for our mental health on an everyday basis. The second belief that informs Clare’s practice is that people have within themselves the resources to be happy and effective in their lives. She believes that through the application of evidence based psychological interventions, client’s can tap into their resources to learn coping skills, increase self- understanding, improve their decision making and problem solving to create such a life. Clare combines her experiential knowledge gained from a decade working within the field of psychology with her knowledge of evidence based psychological assessment and intervention to diagnose and treat a range of mental health issues. As well as working with clients on a one-to- one basis, Clare also designs and facilitates group interventions. Clare founded the Lighthouse Clinical Psychology Service in Galway in 2015 and is currently
learning all the lessons associated with running a small business. Following from her experience as the 2010 International Rose of Tralee, Clare has completed a number of media projects, most recently looking after the wellbeing of participants on Bressie’s Ironmind screened on RTE 2.
